Change but Not Everything Does

I'm very excited by the possibilities - it's been a long time since the U.S. has truly had an inspiring President, and then there's the down side...Prop 8 passes in California, Arkansas bans gay adoption. Palin is greeted in Alaska to the chants of Palin in 2012 - I really hope she's not the direction the Republican Party wants to continue to go.

I wish that religion could be "used" in a radically healing and uniting way instead of creating the great divides of hostility.

I wish that religion and politics could begin to be used for universal good.

Thanks for the link, JS. While posting about it I remembered how to do a screen shot. :)

It's sad that in such a time of great change some folk can't seem to move forward.

Hugs!

Amen on all counts. Nothing would please me more than for SP to finagle herself into a Senate race in Alaska, lose, and then for this shadow-dance to be done with.

I'm saddened by the recent backstepping on LGBT strides. What I can't figure is this: Obama wins California decisively, but Prop 8 passes. Of course, even Obama and Biden are on the wrong side of the fence on the issue of gay marriage.

Still, may we all feel the blessings of a compassionate human being in the White House for the next 8 years. And may he feel our blessings as well.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Gandhi. The Dalai Lama. Religion is used to unite in politics also.

I don’t know if this will make you feel better, but I saw an interview with a gay rights activist in California. He said the ban passed with a smaller percentage of supporters than a previous anti-gay proposition passed. He said he found that encouraging because the trend was still moving towards acceptance, even if it isn’t there yet.

The anti-gay measures are disheartening, but after Tuesday night I feel like anything can happen in this country and I haven’t felt that way in a long time. Not since I was sitting in a blood bank on 9-12-01. It’s nice to feel it for happier reasons.

Keep the faith.

Anything is always possible but with the economy a mess and the "R" word and "D" word starting to get thrown around alot more loosely - I think the "L" word is going to take a back seat.

It would be nice to see more religious voices that aren't spewing Bible literalism (and then only when it suits their needs) to begin to speak up, speak out, and speak boldly.
