What a difference an hour can make

Since last weekend really, I've felt really good. I didn't have to go to work Monday so I slept in an extra hour - oooo wweeee! And the last two days my wife has stayed home with the kids so there's none of the morning madness to get everybody ready and out the door. Whatever internal tension was building has siphoned off.

Just not having to rush and get up at my usual 5am has been a really nice change of pace. I like this slowed down pace. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, cause next Monday is a "you don't have to but we'd really like everyone to put in at least 12hr days", bluk. So life moves back into high gear and the struggle for balance resumes. However, this week has been a nice reminder of priorities and self-care, and hopefully I can carry some of that with me into next week.

Hi, JSD. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who usually gets up at 5 a.m. I turned off the alarm to allow a little extra sleep but my cat decided that when my wristwatch alarm went off, at 6:15, it was time for breakfast and started saying so loudly and repeatedly. Oh well, I have things I need to do today anyway. Maybe if I get a few of them done I will have time to write a post.

Blessings on the rest of your week. May it sustain you through the next ones.

Peace!

Yeah, our puppy is the same way, once she hears the alarm it's time to get up and go on the morning walk. And if we don't move quickly enough for her, she'll nose us and give kisses as encouragement to get up and play.

LOL! My cat sometimes decides to wake me up by licking the tip of my nose. Ouch! Rough cat tongue is not my favorite of facial scrubs. Not to mention the smelly breath.

Puppy kisses, on the other hand, are totally welcome.

Apropos of not much, a great story:

I went and read Chris Adrian's short story, and I agree it's very well done. His imagery is beautifully sad and stark. While reading I wanted to know more about the main character's pysche, and I was quite surprised when the story's main character turns out to be Walt Whitman. My only compliant is with me, because I had to keep ignoring my internal question of, "Is any of this true?"

For some reason the link is cutoff, so let's see if this works:
